Seeking work is hard, whether in employment, under risk of redundancy, unemployed or self-employed. For most, it occurs infrequently and generally when things are already stressful. It requires a specific set of skills and expertise and most people don’t have those skills and expertise ready to go, in their personal competences kit-bag. As a recruitment consultant, I found that even the most confident found the process lonely, frightening, challenging and frustrating. I realised that most of my time with the applicant was focused on coaching them to be the best they could be, in the shortest time possible, so that they could make the best of the opportunities they selected.

Lenovo is a key partner of the M3 Job Club and has been supporting us since 2021 with a growing number of initiatives to help our members on their journey back into the workplace.
Over 50 Lenovo employees from their UK & Ireland offices provide support to the job club through a number of different initiatives:
- Lenovo-M3- job club buddy program
- Technology Upskill Day
- CV reviews
- Return to work shadowing day
- Technology health and device support
The Buddy program has been particularly successful – more than 50 members of the Job Club have had a Lenovo buddy and over 50% of those have found a job, either directly or indirectly as a result of being part of the buddy programme,
Lenovo continues to innovate and find new and creative ways to support the M3 Job Club

Matthew Sheerin – Director, After the Military
After the Military specialises in helping ex-military personnel build a bridge to the right career when life in the forces has come to an end.
Matthew Sheerin has more than twenty years-experience in the business publishing, trade exhibition and recruitment sectors in management, sales, and coaching and consulting roles.
He has an Honours degree in Law (LLB), University of Northumbria and an MSc in evidence-based Career Coaching, University of East London – School of Psychology.
